Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

removed started this conversation

There is help available for those of you who are having a health  problem and cannot work. Ther is a possibility you may be able to receive SSI if you have become disabled. I was ill for quite a while before I received benefits because I was not aware of the services offered. For information on SSI you can go to www.socialsecurity.gov. You can also call 1-800-325-1213.

People who get SSI may be able to get social services from the state they live in. These may include free meals, housekeeping help, and You can get information about the services in your area from your state or local social services or welfare office.transportation. If you receive SSI you wil probably be able to receive food stamps also.

I hope this information helps anyone faced with a serious health problem.

I tried to get food stamps so many times on ssi, and they just want to cut my check then i can get some, this is not fare at all. i'm a daibetic since age 9 and have auto amune problems, and vertiego, just a mess, i'm now 54 and living on the little bit they give me, i cannot eat right, cannot aford food, nor pay my elec bill. Its very hard to make it now. all i can say as a handicap person is we all have to stick together, if someone has a house, and is willing to share a room that would be so helpful. I know there are trust issius, but give us people in need help. sincerely Menifee Ca.
